Two Buccaneers players -- offensive guard Carl Nicks and placekicker Lawrence Tynes -- each contracted staph infections, the club told ESPN’s Chris Mortensen on Thursday.

Nicks and Tynes contracted Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) infections, Mortensen reported.

Nicks and Tynes have each been dealing with toe injuries. It’s unclear whether the MRSA infections are connected to these injuries.

According to Alex Marvez of FoxSports.com, the Buccaneers will attempt to disinfect their facilities this weekend. They sanitized their facilities last week, too, Marvez said.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, athletic facilities can be areas where MRSA can spread for a variety of factors.
