Aaron Rodgers goes just one series for Green Bay

The third preseason game is usually considered the biggest test of the preseason for starters as first-team units typically play into the second half.

But if you’re Aaron Rodgers and you’ve thrown for at least 3,900 yards and 28 touchdowns in each of the last five seasons, getting extensive work in the third preseason game probably isn’t all that vital.

Rodgers played just one series for the Green Bay Packers in their match-up with the Seattle Seahawks on Friday night. Rodgers finished 4 for 7 for 41 yards on a drive that ended in a 38-yard field goal from Mason Crosby.

Graham Harrell replaced Rodgers at quarterback and the Packers promptly went three-and-out on their first possession with Harrell at the helm.

The Packers and Seahawks currently are tied at 3-3 midway through the second quarter.

  1. How happy are you to pay full price tickets with full price parking, concessions, apparel, etc for this preseason farce?

  2. I have never seen more late hits and holding like this Seahawks team. Maybe the Adderall has them too aggresive? In the meantime, the Seattle O played Wilson the whole 1st half and they could not do a thing. Can you say Overrated?

  3. With Roster cuts coming soon, someone has got to win the backup job.

A nice test against a pretty good seattle defense, so of course Graham sort of was completely “meh.”

  4. 3-3 as I type this midway through the third quarter. Russell Wilson looked awesome in the first drive, but average since. Rodgers only played one possession. I really like the Packers chances should these teams meet in the playoffs.

  5. If IRG-Me doesn’t need the preseason, then why should Rogers? Besides, it’s his BFF’s birthday, can’t show up all bruised.

  6. I would love to know what the original game plan was cuz it sure looked like GB pulled Rodgers early because the aggressive Seattle defense was putting the hurt on him. Which either makes GB look like pansies or like smart pre-season game managers depending on your allegiances (or perhaps both haha)

  7. The Packers strike me as the team that’s too careful for their own good…kinda like that Colts team under Jim Caldwell who purposely blew the chance at a perfect season.

  8. I see around the web where Seahag fans are crying about GB’s use of “exotic” defensive schemes last night. It was actually quite vanilla for a Dom Capers 3-4. The players just executed well… finally.

If they didn’t like what they got last night, they REALLY won’t like what they see the next time these 2 teams match up.

  9. When you’re the best player in football, preseason doesn’t matter.

(And yes, Aaron Rodgers IS the best player in football)
wouldn’t best player in football equal MVP? when was the last time he received that? I think a Vikings player has more recently as recently as last year

best qb? maybe with manning & brady
best player? Rogers needs to get in line

  10. Rodgers is HURT! he didnt go to practice before this game and then he dont play in the 3rd preseason game? Rodgers is HURT! and the 49ers will expose that fact as well. It feels real good to know the packers are done.

When you’re the best player in football, you don’t even need to play in the first two games of the preseason…. AP IS the BEST player in football.

  13. Has Rodgers thrown a TD pass this preseason? with the O-line struggling, and no run game to speak of you would think the coaches would want to see something other that field goals from their starting players.

  14. Wilson-kaepernick=milli vanilli

Wilson and kaep are just like milli vanilli, they take all the credit from others that do all the hard work (defense)

  15. Arron rogers is a wuss. One series with seattles d scared him right off the field. Ha ha. Bears will sweep the cheesy packers and easily win the div. Vince young will be the packs starter by week 6. Geaux saints!

  16. Packer fans say he doesn’t need the reps, I say this was a move to protect their multi-million dollar investment because they have no faith in their o-line. Come regular season, all bets are off though.

  17. SMH at all of you Packer fans…All of your excuses won’t change history or how awful your O-line looked. It’s only preseason. Take what you learned from your loss and apply it for the regular season. As far as Wilson playing the first half? Most teams do that. It’s called preparation for the regular season.
