Cardinals guard Jonathan Cooper exits with ankle injury

Cooper

Cardinals rookie left guard Jonathan Cooper left Saturday’s game vs. San Diego after he was rolled into at the end of a play early in the third quarter.

Cooper suffered a left ankle injury on the play, Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com said. He was ruled out for the rest of the game.

The Cardinals’ first-round pick (No. 7 overall) in April’s draft, Cooper was pulling from left to right on an Alfonso Smith run when the injury occurred. As Smith was tackled, the collision ending that play took out Cooper, who had his back to the action.

The Cardinals also lost tight end Rob Housler to a right ankle injury that ended his evening, according to Urban.
