Steelers rookie outside linebacker Jarvis Jones suffered a chest injury in Saturday’s loss to Kansas City and was to be taken to a hospital for “further evaluations,” club spokesperson Burt Lauten said after the game on Twitter.

According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the club believes Jones, their first-round pick, “will be OK.”

Jones left the game in the fourth quarter after appearing to be shaken up at the conclusion of his return of a deflected pass he had intercepted. (The play was nullified by a pass interference penalty.)

The 23-year-old Jones is listed as the top backup to Jason Worilds at right outside linebacker. However, his young legs and pass-rush ability are welcome additions to a sound, stout defense in need of some reinforcements for both the present and future.
