It would be tempting to say Chiefs tight end Tony Moeaki can’t catch a break.

But actually, he catches too many of them.

According to Randy Covitz of the Kansas City Star, Moeaki suffered a shoulder fracture in Saturday night’s preseason game, and there’s no word on how long he’ll be out.

Late preseason injuries are nothing new for Moeaki, who missed the 2011 season after blowing out his knee in the last preseason game.

He wasn’t a stranger to injuries in college either, but has been a productive player when well. The Chiefs signed Anthony Fasano in free agency and drafted Travis Kelce, so it won’t impact the team as much this time through.

But it’s another blow for a player who showed considerable promise.
