Bills running back C.J. Spiller will take some time away from the team to be with family in Florida.

Spiller, whose step-grandfather killed himself after killing two people and wounding two others on Saturday, will be away for an undetermined period of time.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims as well as C.J. and his family in this situation,” Bills coach Doug Marrone said, via the Buffalo News. “I don’t have any answer of when he’s going to come back, but we’re in communication, just making sure that we’re there to support him, that he’s doing well. And then obviously we’re monitoring of when he needs to come back, but we want to make sure that he handles what he needs to handle.”

Spiller will likely miss the preseason finale on Thursday but is expected to return to the field for Week One of the regular season.
