Jameel McClain will remain on PUP list into season

The Ravens have been waiting for linebacker Jameel McClain to get a clean bill of health after last year’s spinal cord contusion, but the good news just hasn’t come.

As a result, Baltimore announced Tuesday that McClain will move to the reserve physically unable to perform list for the start of the regular season. McClain has been on the preseason version of the list, but the team made the shift on Tuesday to help them get down to the 75-man limit ahead of the afternoon deadline.

McClain will now have the first six weeks of the season to get the green light from doctors to resume his career. Ravens coach John Harbaugh said last month that MRIs still show the presence of the injury and that test will need to be clear before McClain can return to action.

The Ravens also transferred defensive lineman Kapron Lewis-Moore to the reserve version of the non-football injury list. Lewis-Moore tore his ACL in Notre Dame’s lopsided BCS Championship loss to Alabama and the Ravens knew when they drafted him in the sixth round that he was unlikely to contribute much, if at all, as a rookie.
