Andre Brown is expected to miss 4-6 weeks

Giants running back Andre Brown downplayed the “tiny little crack” in his leg, suffered during Thursday night’s preseason finale against the Patriots.

“I can come back from this … in a couple weeks,” Brown said after the game.

The more accurate assessment, per a league source with knowledge of the situation, is that Brown will miss 4-6 weeks.  Which means that David Wilson will get more opportunities to not fumble.

It also bumps up 2011 seventh-rounder Da’Rel Scott and veteran Ryan Torain.

Brown, who signed a one-year restricted free agency tender, needs a big year to cash in with the Giants or someone else.  Then again, not many running backs ever really cash in via free agency in today’s NFL.

  1. I really don’t know how to feel about this situation. I love Andre Browns running style and ability, but after what is already his 2nd major injury I just don’t feel he will be able to come back and run with any authority. Something tells me the Giants will also feel the same way I do.

  2. Feel bad for Brown or any player who gets hurt. I understand these are not super rich guys are anything and need their career.

The upside to this is, as a fan, you get to watch David Wilson who electric. Kid is going to be running them in from 40 yards out.

  3. “Which means that David Wilson will get more opportunities to not fumble.”

Is this meant to infer that Wilson is a fumbler, with all of the 1 NFL Fumbles? Or that calling him a fumbler is stupid because he only has 1 fumble?

  4. Try this, Mike:

“Which means that David Wilson will get more opportunities to take a handoff 84 yards to the house.”
