Bears send Jordan Palmer packing

The Bears are down to three quarterbacks for the moment, and the NFL is down to one Palmer brother quarterback.

Bears reserve Jordan Palmer just announced on Twitter that he was “headed home today,” and thanked the Bears for the opportunity.

The Bears didn’t use either Jay Cutler or backup Josh McCown last night, leaving it in the hands of Trent Edwards and Palmer.

Palmer was perfectly acceptable in the preseason, and his 103.0 rating was the highest of all the Bears quarterbacks.

The Bears could also end up getting rid of Edwards, but then they’d likely want to add a younger player to the practice squad. According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, they worked out five passers this week, including Jordan Rodgers (the brother of Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers).

The Bears have always been a home for journeymen QB’s. Backups to Quitler are much more likely to play than other backup QBs.

I’m just glad to see our backup qb’s play to their potential as a backup.

Maybe the Green Bay running backs can swing down to Chicago this weekend to learn a thing or two from our third stringer-Michael Ford….he’s looked a hell of a lot better than Lacy.

  2. I’ll bet Jordan Rogers gets a shot with The Bears. Cutler used to help him at Vandy all the time.

  3. Maybe he’ll land with his brother and play for the Redbirds out west. Wouldn’t that be nice?

  4. Wondering about this new trend of announcing that you’ve failed to make the team via Twitter and thanking the guys who cut you loose…..always thought that coaches were more impressed by the guys who told them they made a mistake, that they’ll continue to work hard and one day come back to prove them wrong…..

  5. This kind of foresight is despicable. Jordan Palmer showed he has the ability and smarts to play FAR better than Trent Edwards AND Josh McCown (who STILL doesn’t have a clue). What are they THINKING!!!
