The Bears haven’t officially announced any of their cuts yet, but we’ve already heard from quarterback Jordan Palmer and tackle J’Marcus Webb about their releases and the names of now-former Bears are continuing to leak out.
Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that safety Brandon Hardin is also being cut loose. It’s an unexpectedly quick end to Hardin’s time in Chicago as he was a third round pick last season in General Manager Phil Emery’s first draft as the man in charge in Chicago, but the team obviously decided that it was better for them to move on than to hold out hope that their selection would be proven correct.
Hardin never played a game for the Bears as he missed all of last season with a neck injury. He does have practice squad eligibility, so the Bears could re-sign him for a spot there if he clears waivers.
Biggs also reports that the Bears are releasing wide receiver Josh Lenz and safety Tom Nelson as well.
