The Rams have started handing out pink slips as they start working toward their initial 53-man roster.
Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com are both reporting the cuts and the list currently stands at 11 players. The 11 names are neither surprising nor particularly recognizable.
The Rams parted ways with defensive end Sammy Brown, who played one game for the team in 2012 and was trying to transition to the defensive line this offseason. Offensive lineman Brandon Washington, a sixth-round pick of the Eagles in 2012, was also let go.
Tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen, defensive end Mason Brodine, defensive tackle Garrett Goebel, safety Rashard Hall, wide receiver Nicholas Johnson, cornerback Drew Thomas, defensive end R.J. Washington, tight end Zach Potter and tackle D.J. Young are the other eight former Rams. The team will have to make 14 more moves to get their roster to the 53-man limit by Saturday afternoon’s deadline, although two of them are likely to involve placing running back Isaiah Pead and linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar on the suspended list.
UPDATE 3:58 p.m. ET: Per a league source, Brandon Washington has not been cut.
