Plenty of players will find out that they are being released in the next two days, but that’s not the only way for teams to make their way down to 53 players by Saturday afternoon’s deadline.

There will be players placed on injured reserve, left on PUP lists and perhaps even a trade or two as teams set their initial rosters for the 2013 season. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Bengals would like to make linebacker Dontay Moch one of those players.

Moch, a third-round pick in 2011, has not made much of an impact for the Bengals in his two years with the team. He fractured his foot during his rookie season and missed the entire year and then kicked off his second season with a four-game suspension for violating the performance enhancing drug policy. He played a handful of snaps in one game and then spent the rest of the year on the non-football injury list because of migraine headaches.

It’s not a list of accomplishments that would seem to entice too many teams, but there’s no harm in trying to make a deal with a player who will likely be cut if the Bengals can’t find a trading partner.
