The once-promising career of wide receiver David Nelson has taken another hit.

Nelson has been cut by the Browns, a league source tells PFT.

As an undrafted rookie out of Florida in 2010, Nelson became a surprisingly effective receiver with the Bills, and he had an even better season in 2011, catching 61 passes for 658 yards. But Nelson suffered a torn ACL in Week One of the 2012 season, and the Bills decided not to tender him a contract this year.

The Browns liked what they saw enough to make Nelson an offer in the offseason, but not enough to keep him on the 53-man roster. He’ll now hope to catch on elsewhere.
