Cardinals claim Alameda Ta’amu, Bradley Sowell

Ta'amu

The Cardinals have added some young depth along both lines one week before the regular season begins.

The club announced Sunday it had been awarded ex-Colts offensive tackle Bradley Sowell and ex-Steelers nose tackle Alameda Ta’amu on waivers.

The 23-year-old Ta’amu was a 2012 fourth-round pick of Pittsburgh. The Steelers suspended for two games last October after his arrest on DUI and other charges. The Steelers waived him in November, but re-signed him to their practice squad, then their roster late in the season. He was sentenced to probation as part of his resolution of the DUI incident.

Sowell, 24, appeared in 10 games as a reserve for Indianapolis in 2012.

In corresponding roster moves, the Cardinals released cornerback Bryan McCann and rookie linebacker Kenny Demens.
