The Seattle Seahawks placed wide receiver Percy Harvin on the regular season physically unable to perform list after having surgery to repair an injured hip on August 1.

The move means Harvin will miss at least the first six weeks of the season and could make his season debut as late as Week 15 under the adjusted rules for the PUP list this season. The Seahawks received positive reports from the initial stages of Harvin’s recovery in New York before returning to Seattle to continue his rehab. The team still isn’t sure when to expect Harvin back at this point but have been encouraged by the progress made so far.

However, Harvin has lofty expectations for when he’ll be able to get back on the field for the Seahawks. Harvin took to Twitter Wednesday to provide an update on his recovery.

Week 7 is the first week Harvin would be eligible to play after coming off the PUP list. However, even if Harvin’s hip heals sufficiently enough to be ready at that stage of the season, it’s unlikely he’ll be able to perform on Sundays that quickly.

First, the Seahawks play the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday night in Week 7 which would give a truncated week for Harvin to get up to speed in practice. Also, Harvin was held out of the majority of the team’s offseason workouts open to the media and missed all of the team’s June mini-camp. While Harvin is familiar with offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell’s offense from their time together in Minnesota, he’s had few opportunities to work into the offensive plans for Seattle.

All the signs point to a later return than Week 7 for Harvin. But if the rehab is going as well as Harvin indicates, Seattle could see their biggest acquisition of the offseason back on the field before the calendar turns to December.
