The Packers lost rookie running back Eddie Lacy to a concussion during their win over the Redskins when Washington safety Brandon Meriweather delivered a crushing helmet-to-helmet blow to him early in the game.

At his Monday press conference, coach Mike McCarthy said, via Tyler Dunne of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, that he wouldn’t update Lacy’s condition until Wednesday. He did offer a hint about how the Packers planned to move forward this week, however.

McCarthy said that there were plans for how to use Lacy, James Starks (who ran for 132 yards on Sunday) and Johnathan Franklin in the Redskins game, but that they never got to the ones for Franklin. McCarthy also said that they would make up the game plan for the Week Three trip to Cincinnati based on the players that were already on the roster, which indicates that there are no plans to sign another running back whether or not Lacy is able to play.

With John Kuhn on the roster as well, the Packers should be deep enough to survive under either circumstance and it looks like that’s what they plan to do.
