Early on Monday, we shared a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN that the NFL was considering a suspension for Buccaneers safety Dashon Goldson after he picked up his 15th personal foul since 2010 on a helmet-to-helmet hit on Saints running back Darren Sproles.

Goldson wasn’t the only safety with a track record of disregard for the league’s rules about hitting players high guilty of such an infraction on Sunday and, according to Mike Jones of the Washington Post, he’s not the only one who could be facing discipline from the league. Jones reports that Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather has come under scrutiny for twice using the crown of his helmet to deliver blows to Packers running backs Eddie Lacy (who suffered a concussion) and James Starks (on a hit that left Meriweather with his own concussion).

Per Jones, it is not yet clear if a suspension is a possibility or if the league is going to impose a fine. Meriweather was fined nearly $100,000 for three infractions over the 2010 and 2011 seasons.

Coach Mike Shanahan said Monday that he thought Meriweather’s second hit was legal, but that the film he watched of the first hit made it hard to tell whether Meriweather had crossed the line. He also said he didn’t expect to have an update on the safety’s condition until Wednesday.
