Though it hardly qualifies as breaking news, the Rams are apparently going to have to prepare to be without Rodger Saffold this week.

The oft-injured right tackle was taken off the field with a knee injury Sunday against the Falcons, and according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, he has a sprained MCL. No surgery is required, but he is expected to miss this week’s game with the Cowboys.

After starting every game at left tackle as a rookie in 2010, the former second-rounder missed 13 games the last two seasons.

He didn’t seem thrilled when they went out and signed Jake Long to take over the left tackle job this offseason, but it’s hard to blame them, since it’s hard to plan on him being in the lineup every week. Joe Barksdale took over for him against the Falcons.
