Bernard pops up on Bengals injury report

Bernard

As the Bengals brace for a visit from the Packers, the team that beat the Steelers on Monday night is dealing with a cluster of injuries.

Most notably, running back Giovani Bernard has been listed for the first time this week with a hamstring injury. Bernard, a second-round rookie who scored a pair of touchdowns in Week Two, participated on a limited basis.

Cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick also has a hamstring injury; it kept him out of practice both days. Cornerback Adam Jones has an abdominal problem that caused him to miss practice on Wednesday. He returned to practice on a limited basis on Thursday.

Also on Thursday’s list was tackle Anthony Collins (knee; did not participate); defensive end Carlos Dunlap (thigh; limited); cornerback Brandon Ghee (concussion; did not participate); defensive end Wallace Gilberry (knee; limited); receiver Marvin Jones (foot; did not participate); safety Jeromy Miles (hamstring; did not participate); guard Mike Pollak (knee; did not participate); tight end Alex Smith (illness; limited).

The best news for the Bengals is that left tackle Andrew Whitworth (knee) has exited the injury report after returning to action against the Steelers.
