On Wednesday, Jets guard Willie Colon said he hadn’t heard from the league about a fine for making contact with an official during a melee near the end of last Thursday’s 13-10 loss to the Patriots.

Colon heard something since then, though, and Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com reports that Colon said he was fined “too much” by the league for the contact and for throwing punches. Colon wouldn’t reveal the exact amount, but did say that he was fined more than teammate D’Brickashaw Ferguson. Ferguson was fined $15,000 for throwing a punch during the fracas and both he and Colon were ejected from the game.

“They got me for contact with an official and I guess I was throwing some jabs when I was in the crowd,” Colon said. “I kind of got the double wammy, so to speak. It sucks, but at this point all I can do is appeal it, put it behind me and get ready for Buffalo.”

There was a lot of activity before the officials were finally able to separate the players and the league office looked at all available films to make their determinations. If there were any other fines related to the incident, which started when Jets center Nick Mangold hit Patriots cornerback Aqib Talib out of bounds, we’ll likely find out about them on Friday.
