Browns win second straight, grab share of AFC North lead

Brian Hoyer

Here come the Browns.

Seriously, here come the Browns.

Led by a strong performance by their defense and two TD passes from quarterback Brian Hoyer, the Browns defeated the Bengals 17-6 in Cleveland on Sunday.

The victory is the Browns’ second straight and improves their record to 2-2. Cleveland is now in a three-way tie for the AFC North lead with Cincinnati and Baltimore, which lost Sunday at Buffalo.

If the Browns can defeat the Bills on Thursday night, they will have a winning record after five games for the first time since 2007.

Meanwhile, Sunday’s result is something of a humbling one for the Bengals, who did not score a touchdown and were outgained by the Browns.

The Browns took control in the latter stages of the fourth quarter, putting together a 12-play, 91-yard march ending in a Chris Ogbonnaya one-yard TD catch with a little less than five minutes left in the game. The touchdown gave Cleveland its final margin of victory, as two more Cincinnati drives proved fruitless.
