Locker is expected to miss at least a few weeks

Locker

Not much is known about the right hip injury suffered Sunday by Titans quarterback Jake Locker.

He was carted off the field and taken to a hospital for an MRI. But he then admitted and reportedly stayed overnight.

The situation has an odd feel. We still don’t know what the specific injury is. Coach Mike Munchak has said Locker doesn’t need emergency surgery, which could be interpreted as a hint that he needs non-emergency surgery.

It also is expected to keep Locker out for at least a few weeks.

That’s what offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains said after the 38-13 win, fueled once again by a defense that forced four turnovers and generated five sacks. Cornerback Alterraun Verner had three takeaways himself, pushing his total for the season to six (four interceptions, two fumble recoveries).

Thus, even with Ryan Fitzpatrick replacing Locker for the immediate future, the Titans may have just enough punch on defense to keep rolling forward with that unlikely 3-1 record.
