Oddsmaker makes Denver nearly a 27-point favorite over Jacksonville

A noted Las Vegas sportsbook has gone ahead and made Denver a staggering favorite against Jacksonville in Week Six.

On Tuesday, the LVH Las Vegas Hotel and Casino’s SuperBook installed Denver as a 26.5-point favorite over Jacksonville in the club’s Oct. 13 matchup.

In short, the LVH’s advance line for Week Six is a snapshot of how the sportsbook views the game right now. It is subject to change. The line will be taken off the board when the book opens Sunday, LVH vice president of race and sportsbook operations Jay Kornegay said Tuesday. Finally, the LVH will again put up the line for Jacksonville-Denver and other Week Six games.

The LVH is usually the first book in Nevada to put up an opening line for the following week’s pro football games, so by Sunday night, we’ll have an idea of how much of a mismatch Jacksonville-Denver is perceived to be by those in the business of gauging such perception.

  1. man can you imagine how blown away it would be if the Jags had a win, lol……….yeah I know, and no I’M not craz.y

  2. I agree with those above. 27 points isn’t enough. Jags would need 35-42 to even catch action.

  3. Organized crime is will make sure Denver doesn’t beat the spread.

I don’t know who it will be…but…they will get a couple Denver defenders.

    Just wait.

  4. @jumbo, Osweiler already got snaps last week for Philly.

Jags fan here and 26.5 ain’t large enough. By far the worst team of all time. But I ain’t even mad, rebuilding year, getting slaughtered for Bridgewater. Find some interior OL too in the draft or sign via FA. Add more pieces at LB and DE and they’ll at least be able to compete with teams finally LOL.

  5. It’s not enough. This line should be over 30 by late next week. Jags will score 14 at most. Denver should at least score as much as against Philadelphia.

  6. Not even trying to make a joke here, I think the score will be 62-9, Denver Oh wait, yeah, that is kind of funny…

But in all seriousness, Manning will be pulled out of the game by halftime.

  7. I heard on Simmons Podcast that the largest spread ever is (if i remember right) 1978. Bucs going in to Pittsburgh. 28 and a half or something. This could be the first 30 point spread the league has ever seen, and will probably ever see. The betting action will be real interesting. It’s HARD to win by 30 the the NFL no matter the disparity between 2 teams.

One scenario I see playing out is Denver going in to the 4th quarter with a 37-3 lead. Fox removes all of his starters. Jags rack up a bunch of superficial garbage yards and a few TD’s. Well, now it’s 37-17 and guess what Denver didn’t cover. Denver is a Different animal than Seattle or Indy. They can be up 35-3 by HALFTIME. Who’s to say Fox won’t rest Peyton an entire half? No point in them playing if that’s the case. This is trully the equivalent of an Alabama or Ohio State versus USF or an FCS team.

  8. Thegreatgabbert will soon post how the wounded Jags will rise to the occasion and beat the broncos. Yea right. Just like my dolphins rose to the occasion and beat the Saints.

  9. Manning will only have to work for three quarters on October 13th. Brock Osweiller will catch more fantasy points than Peyton’s little brother week 6.

  10. If there was ever a game to give Peyton Manning a bye week, this is the one. Time for Brock Osweiler to put the clipboard down and win a game for the Broncos. I wouldn’t let Peyton see the light of day against an angry and dispirited team like this. It is exactly the kind of game the Broncos win. But also loses long term, by losing critical players like Peyton Manning to injury. They don’t need Peyton for games like this. And they need to pace him at his age. So he stays hot when it matters.

  11. Wilson was out of the SEA/JAC game with 5 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter.

Peyton will be delivering pizzas in the stands by halftime if John Fox has any brains.

As an aside, the LVH is a horrible hotel. If you want to make the bet, take a cab and tell the cabbie to wait 5 minutes while you get in and out of that outdated facility. Free publicity like this is a goldmine for them.

  12. The lines will go up or down in response to the way people are betting.

Broncos are averaging 45 points per game; the Jags have scored 31 points in their first four games *combined*….less than 8 ppg.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the spread is 35+ by gametime.

  13. people who are saying that manning will be out after halftime are clueless. manning will still be in the game with 2 minutes left up 60 points throwing the ball to the endzone, havent you watched the previous 4 games? all he cares about are his precious stats.

No he wont. He’s not a Jaguar fan; he’s a Blaine Gabbert fan. Thankfully, next year he will be polluting some other team’s board.

Most likely Walmart, where Gabbert will find his true talent at stocking shelves. Until a housewife looking for the Charmin scares ol’ Blaine and he falls down.

Of course “thegreatgabbert” will blame Walmart, the housewife, toilet paper, fellow employees, etc…

  15. The reason for this line is primarily how bad the Jags are.

History has seen many team as good or better than the Bronco’s, the Jags are one of the very worst ever though.
