Needing a roster spot for the signing of wide receiver Kevin Ogletree, the Detroit Lions waived defensive tackle D’Anthony Smith on Wednesday.
Detroit had claimed Smith off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks the previous week. He was inactive for last week’s game against the Chicago Bears.
Seattle acquired Smith in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars during final roster cuts in August. Smith appeared in the first two games of the season for the Seahawks and made five tackles. He appeared in eight games for the Jaguars in 2012 and recorded 10 tackles.
