Bills rookie quarterback E.J. Manuel was the lucky one last night.

After Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer was lost for the season to an ACL tear, Manuel escaped relatively well.

Bills coach Doug Marrone said, via the team’s official Twitter account, that Manuel suffered a sprain of the lateral collateral ligament (one of the lesser-known CLs) and would miss “a few weeks.”

That’s good news for the long-term for the Bills, but they will need to add somebody to get them through until then. Backup Jeff Tuel is the only other quarterback on the 53-man roster at the moment, though they are carrying Thaddeus Lewis around on the practice squad.
