The loudest stadium in the NFL could may get even louder if the plans of the Seattle Seahawks come to fruition.

According to Mike Garafolo of FOXSports.com, the Seahawks are looking to add 2,000 to 3,000 seats to CenturyLink Field before the start of the 2014 season. The capacity of the stadium would officially increase from a listed 67,000 permanent seats to close to 70,000 seats.

In addition to setting a world record for crowd noise at 136.6 decibels, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, the stadium set a record with 68,338 in attendance for Seattle’s Week 2 game against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football.

The team is looking to add seats to the upper deck in the south end of the stadium which currently has an open plaza where they raise the “12th Man” flag prior to the kickoff of games.

There have also been rumblings of Seattle’s desire to potentially host a Super Bowl in the future. With the league willing to play in a cold-weather stadium in New Jersey this year, it could open the door for Seattle to place a bid to host as long as February’s experiment doesn’t become a logistical disaster.

If the league continues to be open to cold-weather cities for their biggest event, the additional seating at CenturyLink Field wouldn’t hurt their chances of getting the game.
