Government shutdown shuts down Donte Whitner name change

We’re going to have to wait a little longer before Donte Hitner takes the field in an NFL game.

Earlier this week, 49ers safety Donte Whitner said he planned to change his name to Hitner in conjunction with the launch of a line of “#LegalHitner” t-shirts protesting the penalties and fines he’s incurred on the field this season. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Whitner’s lawyer filed paperwork to legally change Whitner’s name to Hitner, but that the current shutdown of the federal government has stopped the paperwork from being processed.

There’s no word on whether this snag will lead to any movement in Washington, although we’re guessing that Whitner’s desire to change his name to one that looks and sounds a lot like that of a man whose attempt at world domination was stopped with the help of the U.S. government ranks fairly low on the list of things impacted by the shutdown of the government.

  1. This guys should should concentrate more on not getting burned by TEs. If he’s thinking of a name change, he might want to swap the W with an S.

  2. If only hitler was as good as he thinks he is.
I’m laughing hysterically at this turd.

I assume you are thanking him for not being kicked off your health coverage for pre-existing conditions as he has nothing to do with the government shut down. That would be the republicans who threw a tantrum and wouldn’t pas a CR. If you have a pacifier though send it to a tea party member and let’s see if we can get this fixed.

  4. With all due respect, I hope before Donte changes his name, he reviews the PBS, Frontline documentary “League Of Denial” an NFL Concussion Crisis.. Identifying yourself with an act that has laid hundreds perhaps thousands of former NFL players mentally disabled due to the concussive nature of the game is an insult to ALL those players…
