The Titans, who lost quarterback Jake Locker to a hip injury in Week Four, recently inquired about former No. 1 overall pick JaMarcus Russell, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Sunday.
According to Schefter, Russell is currently recovering from a knee injury, but the quarterback was receptive to the opportunity. According to Schefter, this appears to be an indication that Russell does intend to continue his comeback.
The Titans promoted Rusty Smith from the practice squad this week to back up Ryan Fitzpatrick, who will start Sunday against Kansas City.
The 28-year-old Russell has not played in an NFL game since 2009.
