McDonald due for MRI on biceps

The 49ers, who were sliding toward desperation mode two weeks ago, have won a pair of games to climb over .500.

But the news isn’t all good, given that the Niners suffered another defensive injury on Sunday night against the Texans.

Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com reports that defensive end Ray McDonald will have an MRI on Monday to determine the extent of the damage to his injured biceps.

“It just felt weird,” McDonald said. “I didn’t want to take any chances of going back out there and messing it up any more.”

He’s nevertheless optimistic about an injury that occurred while he was sacking Texans quarterback Matt Schaub.

“When I go in to get an MRI, I’ll have a better feel for what’s wrong with me,” McDonald said, adding that he believes he will be OK.

McDonald has missed only two games in the past six seasons. Demarcus Dobbs and Tony Jerod-Eddie replaced McDonald.

Jerod-Eddie was rewarded for his efforts with an interception, but not a pick-six burger.
