T.Y. Hilton: Browner’s insult made me flip the switch

Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton had himself quite a day against the Seahawks on Sunday, catching five passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns in a 34-28 victory.

According to Hilton, the impetus for his performance came from Seahawks cornerback Brandon Browner. Hilton said that Browner told him that he was “light as [expletive]” early in the game, riling up Hilton and leading to a performance that included a 29-yard touchdown pass that came after Hilton’s lightweight frame blew past Browner.

"[Browner] made me hit the light switch that nobody’s seen,” Hilton said, via Jarrett Bell of USA Today. “He made that decision. So they should blame him.”

Hilton also said he found it “disrespecting” that the Seahawks tried to cover him one-on-one for much of the day, although it’s going to be hard for defenses to provide extra help against both Hilton and Reggie Wayne. That bodes well for the Colts offense to keep adding wins to their 4-1 start.

Hilton added that he didn’t hear anything all day from the normally voluble Richard Sherman, who “wouldn’t even look me in the eye.” Perhaps he got the message from Browner that it’s best to let Hilton find his inspiration from something other than trash talk.
