As the Texans try to get better quarterback play without getting, you know, better quarterbacks, they’re considering instead getting better protection for Matt Schaub and the guys currently deemed not to be good enough to send him to the bench.
Per a league source, the Texans gave tryouts on Tuesday to tackle Jason Smith, the second overall pick in the 2009 draft, along with tackle Steven Baker, guards Seth Olsen and Jarrod Shaw, and centers David Molk and Edwin Williams.
The Texans have not signed any of the players, yet.Houston hosts on Sunday the Rams, who originally drafted Smith.
