Jaguars would trade Jones-Drew, at the right price

Jones-Drew

Jaguars G.M. David Caldwell has said he won’t trade running back Maurice Jones-Drew. It’s possible that the rest of that statement should be “for a bowl of soup and an ugly hat.”

Per a league source, a deal would indeed be done, at the right price.

In many respects, that’s obvious. Any player could, in theory, be traded if a big enough package is offered.

For Jones-Drew, it’s unclear what the Jaguars would want. But two weeks and two days remain before the trade deadline; if injury or ineffectiveness prompts a contender to take a chance on Jones-Drew in the hopes of improving their roster for a playoff run, the deal could go down.

Either way, it’s hard to envision Jones-Drew returning to Jacksonville in 2014, unless he has no other viable options. He has been the face of the franchise for the last few years, but the franchise is in dire need of a facelift. And every other type of cosmetic and corrective surgery imaginable.
