No Stevie Johnson for Bills on Sunday

Thad Lewis won’t have Stevie Johnson available to run down passes in his first start at quarterback for the Bills.

Johnson is inactive for Sunday’s game against the Bengals after missing the entire week of practice while in California following a death in his family. Johnson also suffered a back injury in the Week Five loss to the Browns and coach Doug Marrone said Friday that the team would have to make a game-time call on Johnson because they wouldn’t have a chance to assess his condition until he was back in Buffalo.

T.J. Graham and Robert Woods are listed as the starting receivers for the Bills.

Things look better on the defensive side of the ball for Buffalo. Safety Jairus Byrd and cornerback Stephon Gilmore are both in the lineup for the first time in the regular season, which should provide the Bills defense with a solid boost as they try to knock off the Bengals.

  1. As a Bills fan, I’m upset that Manuel will be out for a while, but I’m happy that we’re finally gonna have our defensive starters in the secondary healthy for the first time this season. I think this gives Mike Pettine the freedom to blitz more often and we should see more even more forced turnovers.

  2. Stevie Johnson has entered that diva wide receiver realm. It’s not enough to just be great on Sundays and play as a tem member. There has to be more drama…. more attention. Too bad. He’s a Top-10 WR.

  3. All Buffalo needs to do is “triple team” A.J. Green because the Bengals #2 and #3 wr get no separation and Jermaine Gresham is undependable and lacks explosiveness.

  4. #3 wr Marvin Jones only gets separation on end around running plays.

I don’t think he understand his routes on top of being undertalented.

  5. Interesting……. Adrian Peterson has a son who is murdered… he plays Sunday.
Stevie Johnson has a mysterious death in his family, and he misses the entire week of practice plus the game.
    I’m just asking the question… What’s happening?
