The Bills got more than they could have fairly expected from quarterback Thad Lewis, and he may miss less time than expected after a late injury.

A league source tells PFT Lewis’s MRI revealed no ligament damage, and he will be labeled day-to-day with a mild foot sprain.

Lewis threw for two touchdowns and ran for another in Buffalo’s overtime loss to the Bengals, who have struggled keeping quarterbacks on the field all season. He was promoted from the practice squad last week to start in place of E.J. Manuel, and more than held his own.

Manuel’s expected to miss several more weeks, so there’s a chance for him to add to his resume if he can get back on the field. The Bills are bringing in Matt Flynn for a look in case, and the way their season’s going, they can’t have too many hanging around.
