Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Ware has never missed a game in his NFL career, a streak that looks destined to come to an end in Week Seven thanks to a quad injury suffered in Sunday night’s victory over the Redskins.

According to a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN, Ware will wind up missing more than just one game. Schefter reported Monday that Ware will be out 3-4 weeks while recovering from the injury, a timetable that Ware refused to endorse on Monday. Ware agreed that he was doubtful to play this week, saying that he couldn’t play based on how he felt right now, but wouldn’t go any further than that when asked about missing a month.

“I don’t think so,” Ware said, via the Dallas Morning News. “I just know my body recovers really fast and I’m not going to be out that long. They’re saying doubtful this week. But I don’t know. I’m just trying to get ready.”

Ware’s history is long on games he played while nicked up, so it’s easy to understand why he’d feel confident about getting back on the field sooner rather than later. With the defensive line short on players because of multiple injuries, a short absence would be welcomed in Dallas.
