Jameel McClain back to practice with the Ravens

For the first time in 10 months, Ravens linebacker Jameel McClain is practicing.

McClain, who has been out since suffering a spinal cord contusion in Week 14 of last season, is participating in his first practice of the season today.

We’re going to practice Jameel McClain today,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said, via CSNBaltimore.com. “Do not know what that means for this week, next week, or the week after. We do know that it means that within three weeks we have to make a decision about whether we put him on the 53-man roster. So we’ll just have to see how it goes.”

The Ravens are keeping McClain on the physically unable to perform list for now, but they must decide within the next three weeks whether to bring him up to the active roster or officially end his season. If all goes well at practice, McClain could be back on the field for the Ravens, and perhaps back in the starting lineup for the second half of the season.

  1. This is GREAT for us. It was a bittersweet thing for Ellerbe that McClain got hurt cuz thats the ONLY reason he got his 35mil in Miami. Not taking anything away from Ellerbe,he played great for us & is doing alright down in Dade County, but McClain has always been better than him. Look forward to seeing ya back on the field soon McClain!!!

  2. Great news for the Ravens if he gets back to his previous form. That defense already looks much improved over last year. He was a main part of the reason they let Ellerbe go.

  3. I wonder if McClain can block, or maybe he could run the ball or perhaps he can get open & catch it. The defense is already playing pretty well. We need some sort of spark on offense.

All kidding aside, Jameel is a good guy and a good player. I hope he can get back to his previous excellent level of performance.

  4. Keep on keepin on Mr. McClain, it’d be cool to see you back on the field. No shot, no sarcasm, just a fan of people perservering through tough odds. Respect from this steelers fan.

  5. But along the lines of injury, Ravens should coach up Elam to open his eyes when he launches himself – hate to have him take out his own player, a la Trawick/Jones.

  6. Just couldn’t help yourself with that last one could you crown. Elam is just fine. Speaking of injuries Steelers should cut back on pre-game warm ups. Don’t need anymore season ending injuries.
