The San Francisco 49ers waived wide receiver Chris Harper from their 53-man roster on Thursday.

Harper was originally a fourth-round draft pick of the Seattle Seahawks in April and spent training camp with the team before being released during final cuts. Seattle had re-signed Harper to their practice squad before the 49ers offered him a spot on their 53-man roster.

Harper did not play in any of the 49ers’ first six games of the season despite a lack of capable targets at the position. Harper caught just three passes for 32 yards in three games for Seattle this preseason.

The Seahawks had wanted to get Harper back on their practice squad after final cuts and may still be interested in bringing him back to Seattle if he clears waivers.
