Calvin Johnson not expected to be limited against Bengals

Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson was limited in practice this week, but he’s not expected to be limited in their game against the Bengals.

That was the word from Bob Holtzman of ESPN, who reported on Sunday morning that Johnson expects to be back to a full workload after playing a less prominent role in last week’s victory over the Browns. Johnson said he’s not quite 100 percent recovered from the knee injury that’s plagued him all month, but that he feels well enough to stop holding himself back on the field.

Lions offensive coordinator Scott Linehan predicted more work for Johnson during the week and Johnson was listed as probable on Friday’s injury report, a step up from his questionable designation last week.

Johnson played on just 38 snaps against Cleveland and didn’t venture too far from the line of scrimmage on many of them. A return to his more familiar role would be a plus for the Lions offense and it would increase the chances that the Bengals allow a quarterback to throw for 300 yards for the first time since early last season.
