Saints promote Ryan Griffin from practice squad

With a number of teams looking for quarterback help, the Saints promoted one they didn’t want to let get away.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Saints are elevating quarterback Ryan Griffin from the practice squad to the active roster.

They had been carrying just two quarterbacks, Drew Brees and Luke McCown. While that’s a roster spot they’re going to have to create, it also points to the idea that someone else might have been sniffing around.

Griffin was an undrafted rookie from Tulane, so he didn’t have to move to continue his football career, and now he might get to hang around.

  1. Judging from the preseason, Griffin has some potential, and obviously, Sean Payton thought so too. Most of all, he is a perfect fit for the Saints, as he ran the Saints offensive system in college.

  2. Griffin’s name has come up repeatedly in #RamsNation the last couple of days. Not surprised they promoted him quickly.

Hopefully he doesn’t want to be RGIII as he hasn’t shown himself to be a winner in this league.

Maybe they’ll release Ingram to create roster slot since he is worthless.

Gotta think the Saints would jump on any offer to shed Ingram for any kind of value. How the Giants haven’t dialed Loomis on that one is a wonder given the plodders they’ve brought in the last couple weeks.

Maybe Loomis should call Indianapolis. Grigson gives out first-round picks for that kind of cat.
