The Vikings will be sticking with Josh Freeman as their quarterback in Week Eight, but they’ve decided to shuffle up the deck at cornerback.
The team announced Tuesday that they have claimed Shaun Prater and released Jacob Lacey. The move wasn’t a reaction to anything that Lacey did on the field in Monday night’s 23-7 loss to the Giants since he didn’t play in the game. It also wasn’t a response to anything Lacey did in any other Vikings game since the team had just added him to the roster late last week.
Prater was waived by the Eagles on Monday when they signed linebacker Emmanuel Acho off of the Giants’ practice squad. Prater played one game for the Eagles, who claimed him off of waivers from the Bengals at the end of the preseason.
Prater will join a Vikings secondary that has allowed opposing passers to complete 65.5 percent of their passes this season, so there should be an opportunity for him to get on the field at some point this season.
