The Saints decided that linebacker/defensive end Martez Wilson wasn’t a good fit for the defense that Rob Ryan is running in New Orleans, but one of Ryan’s former employers has decided to see what Wilson has to offer them.

The Raiders, who had Ryan on their staff from 2004 to 2008, announced Wednesday that they have claimed Wilson off of waivers. They released defensive tackle Christo Bilukidi to make room on the roster.

If nothing else, Wilson should find a spot on the Raiders’ special teams units after thriving there in New Orleans. If he can contribute as an edge player on defense, all the better, and Wilson is just a couple of years removed from being a third-round pick in New Orleans.

Bilukidi, a sixth-round pick in 2012, has played in five games this season and recorded five tackles.
