Redskins say there’s no connection to “Bravehearts” trademark

Mel

Well, it was fun while it lasted. Even though it only lasted a few minutes.

The Redskins have forwarded the following statement to PFT in response to the item regarding the registration of the name “Washington Bravehearts” for federal trademark protection.

“There is no connection between the trademark and the Washington Redskins,” the team said. “Dan Snyder does not know the man that was reported in the story.”

TMZ reported that Snyder and Aris Mardirossian are neighbors, and that they “formed a united front on their block a few years back -- both men wanted to cut down trees on their lots but they were being blocked by the county.”

Regardless, the TMZ report launches a new frontier in the Redskins name issue. Folks will periodically be checking for filings that possibly constitute evidence of the name the Redskins would adopt, if/when they drop the one they have.
