Raiders’ defensive coordinator gives the officials the finger

AP

Raiders defensive coordinator Jason Tarver gave the officials the one-finger salute during today’s game against the Steelers, and he’ll pay for it.

Tarver was seen flipping the bird at the officials after Raiders cornerback Mike Jenkins picked up a personal foul for a hit to the head of a defenseless receiver, a penalty that Tarver obviously didn’t think should have been called.

Based on precedent, Tarver is probably looking at a fine of about $40,000. That’s the amount the NFL fined then-Titans defensive coordinator Chuck Cecil for giving the officials the finger during a 2010 game.

The next week, Cecil taped his middle finger and forefinger together to make sure he couldn’t commit the same offense. Tarver may need to try the same thing.

  1. All he was saying was the ref was #1. And I agree with cobrala2, he was lucky he was not by a “stray” bullet from the Black Hole.

  2. Chuck Cecil was fun to watch when that dude was playing. He was totally trying to be the next Ronnie Lott.

  3. You should have seen the terrible personal foul call on the Bengals Terence Newman.

Newman was in front of the player and the ball hits Newman in the hands/chest and receiver dives head first into Newman’s back…. and…. the refs penalize Newman/Bengals for 35-40 yards for it.

The refs picked up the flag and didnt call the personal foul. Why don’t you mention that Michael David smith.

    Good question.

  5. He’s a good D coordinator and wicked smaaaht. He has a masters degree in biochemistry and molecular biology. Sounds like he has a bit of a temper though.

Sure is. The Raiders bias on this site is bad.

    Hows that Raiders defense MDS?

  7. Bengals fans know the feeling! They called a roughing penalty on one of our corners today who dove IN FRONT OF the receiver to try to pick the ball! He never even touched the receiver! These casks are being absurd! Roger Goodell needs some fingers thrown his way!

  8. Tarver is the same person as that little soccer fan you see everywhere, but all grown up. Raider Nation collectively gives Mike “Tuck Rule” Pereira the middle finger

  9. 40k? Really? The fines are way out of whack if that’s the case. I guess the refs feelings are a lot softer than the the bodies of the players, cause you can physically maim a player in this league and be fined less than that.

The Raiders defense starting to show some light only after they hire the old Niners LB Coach.

And the Niners were stinking it up until they hired Oakland’s old QB coach.

  11. First there was “Tebowing”, then “Kaepernicking. This gesture is now referred to as “Tarvering”.

It was a terrible call, that ended up not being enforced. The ref that flew the flag deserved every bit of the Tarvering he got.

  12. The guy absolutely came unglued. He actually did it twice and you could easily read his lips. Not sure a $40,000 fine is in order, but the lack of personal control was embarrassing.

  13. I’ve always wondered how the Steelers/Rooneys would do if they had to play a game straight-up with no help from the officials. Be pretty ugly, I would guess.

  14. Gotta love those who just watch the highlights and glance over the stat sheet instead of you know….actually watching the game.

The bacon comment was hilarious by the way.

  15. I could careless about either team but it was yet another bad call by a piece of garbage union refs. Put the replacements back in, at least they can be fired when they screw up week after week.

  16. faiders complain about refs.

    Water is wet.

    Bottom dwellers forever.

There’s a reason this franchise is worth less than any other in the league.

  17. And the Ref’s and the NFL deserve the finger because of all the silly stupid rules that they put in place every year that change the game forever. The Ref’s control the outcome of a game anymore, not the players.

Mike Pereira is QUACK in his profession, and deserves the #1 sign too. I have no respect for mike at all. Scum, idiot, moron…… He’s just mad because the outcome of an NFL game was not decided buy his REF’S, and was overturned.

  18. Had I been fined for each “bird” I’ve flipped at my television watching the NFL, I’d be down 600K by now……Let them play!!!!

  19. Some where up in Heaven Al Davis John Matuszak Lyle Alzado Ben Davidson and Jack Tatum are all smiling. JASON TARVER IS NOW A RAIDER ! WAIT UNTIL THEY DRAFT JAVEDON CLOWNEY !

  20. Officials at Raiders games should be given the finger, followed by a bat to the head. They have made so many bad calls against them on major plays as to be unbelievable.

  21. Huge fan of Allen and Tarver! Olsen eh not sold yet! But the best coaching staff imo sene Jay was traded.

At least the Raiders have fans, unlike your Chargers.

    Loser.

I think you mean the niners showed some life after they hired Harbaugh, and Bill Walsh who both started their NFL coaching careers with the Raiders. Get it right…niners hired him as an offensive asst, and eventually move to defense where he was at least able to coach the outside linbeackers, as singletary already knew how to coach the middle.

  24. well at least the refs picked that ludicrous flag up….they should of did the same thing after Ben threw the interception, and raiders were called for defensive holding. (about 10 seconds later )

as much as the raiders tried to run out the clock at the start of the third quarter (yet once again) the refs tried their best to keep the steelers in theis game….I think the steelers only had like 50 total yards in the first half, and eneded up with like only 30 yards rushing for the game

Acutally, the stadium they play in is the reason. Stadiums contribute to their value, doesn’t make sense, but that’s the way it is.

  26. Given the abuse of power the officials have shown over the years i pray for a gambling scandal. Nothing short of that will get the old boy network of NFL houseboy officials out of game.

The ref is lucky he wasn’t assaulted or stabbed in the Bay Area.

Ignorance is bliss I guess. It’s funny that no body says this stuff about the Niners.
    – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

thats becuase you only get stabbed at SF Giants games…at the niners game you get shot

Charger fans are finally coming out of their coma. It must suck losing to the Raiders. Lose to Oakland. Win a game. Get a bye. Talk some junk about the last team that beat you. Very manly.
