Raiders defensive coordinator Jason Tarver gave the officials the one-finger salute during today’s game against the Steelers, and he’ll pay for it.

Tarver was seen flipping the bird at the officials after Raiders cornerback Mike Jenkins picked up a personal foul for a hit to the head of a defenseless receiver, a penalty that Tarver obviously didn’t think should have been called.

Based on precedent, Tarver is probably looking at a fine of about $40,000. That’s the amount the NFL fined then-Titans defensive coordinator Chuck Cecil for giving the officials the finger during a 2010 game.

The next week, Cecil taped his middle finger and forefinger together to make sure he couldn’t commit the same offense. Tarver may need to try the same thing.
