In the final hours before the trade deadline, the Seahawks are exploring a major move.

Seattle would like to acquire defensive end Jared Allen in a deadline-day trade with the Vikings, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

It wouldn’t be at all surprising to see the Vikings trade Allen, seeing as they’re not playoff contenders and he’ll be able to leave Minnesota in free agency after the season anyway.

According to Schefter, the Seahawks aren’t the only team talking to the Vikings about Allen. As PFT’s Mike Florio mentioned Sunday on Football Night in America, the Seahawks, 49ers and Broncos are all teams that could have an interest in Allen’s services.

The Seahawks and Vikings have already had one major trade this year, shipping Percy Harvin to Seattle. If the trade can get done in the next few hours, Seattle could have both Allen and Harvin helping them make a late-season push toward the Super Bowl.
