When Mark Brunell, one of the top players in the history of the Jaguars franchise, suggested that the team would move to London, that didn’t sit well in Jacksonville.

So it’s not surprising that Brunell has already backtracked.

Brunell said on Jacksonville radio station 1010 XL that he supports keeping the team where it has always been and wishes he hadn’t said moving to London is a possibility.

“I certainly caused quite a stir and upset a lot of Jaguars fans,” Brunell said, via ESPN.com. “Let me tell you guys: I regret those comments. A poor choice of words. I had an opportunity up there to speak to all that [Jaguars owner] Shad Khan has done in this community, his investments, and his plans, and all the great things that are going on with the Jacksonville Jaguars and I didn’t do it. That certainly will not happen again. Obviously all of us, we want the Jaguars to stay in Jacksonville and I do not want this team to leave.”

The Jaguars are already committed to leaving once a year to play “home” games in London. But the remaining seven games are staying in Jacksonville for the foreseeable future and, Brunell hopes, forever.
