Nine weeks, no blackouts

Test+Pattern

Week Nine of the 2013 NFL season unfolds starting tonight, and for the first time since 2006 the NFL will make it through nine weeks with no blackouts.

Yes, there are a few asterisks. Some teams (like the Dolphins) have exercised the ability to reduce their minimum sale threshold to 85 percent of the non-premium seats. Others (like the Dolphins) have purchased the excess tickets at 34 cents on the dollar.

Regardless, the string stretches this week of 133 games with no local blackouts. Even though some fans in Minnesota, Jacksonville, and Tampa likely would wish that one or more of their team’s home games wouldn’t be televised.

Or their road games.
