Three Broncos fined for Week Eight infractions

Broncos defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson said earlier this week that quarterbacks should be fined for flopping in an effort to draw flags for late hits.

That change doesn’t seem like one we’ll be seeing anytime soon and it might not have helped Vickerson avoid league discipline this week anyway. PFT has confirmed with the league that Vickerson has been fined $7,875 for hitting Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III late in last Sunday’s Denver victory, but there wasn’t much flopping by Griffin as Vickerson made this one a no-doubter.

Vickerson wasn’t the only Bronco to hear from the league this week. Linebacker Wesley Woodyard owes $15,750 for striking Kirk Cousins, who came in after Griffin tweaked his knee in the fourth quarter, with a helmet-to-helmet shot.

Defensive end Malik Jackson is also writing a check. He’s been fined $7,875 for a late hit on wide receiver Pierre Garçon, making it an expensive weekend for the Broncos defense as a whole.

  1. Hard hitting Defense, I love it. Don’t change a thing boys! Make teams fear playing from behind. Keep the the knock out shots coming!

  2. Vickerson has to get some better composure. He was kind of embarrassing during the colts game

I like that the defense is physical, though.

  3. These fines are like $5 to them… However, I will agree with Vickerson that both RG3 and Luck flopped. I know it “doesn’t look like it” but these QB’s are trained to flop when given the opportunity…

  4. Hard hitting defense? LOL. …. They give up 27.5 points a game hate to see what they would give up if they werent “hard hitting”They are just a bunch out cheap shot artist.

  5. Why is Woodyard not suspended yet?
This is the 2nd time this year that he’s purposely hit a QB in the helmet, trying to hurt them. The first time was against Terrelle Pryor and he had a concussion on the play.

Oh wait I forgot, the NFL’s princess team this year is the Broncos so they won’t hurt them in any way. They didn’t even get a penalty flag for either hit.

  6. Well I certainly hope there is a larger fine for Jordan Reed for hitting Duke Ihenacho late, helmet to helmet, while he was on the ground, after the play was over. Or does the Ginger Hammer only fine defensive players for these “illegal” hits?

  7. Broncos give up 27 points a game because they play a half of garbage time every Sunday. They’ve also played a few stretches with half their starting D out or injured and still win by 3 TDs. It’s like Alabama playing Charelston St. every week. They toy with teams. They are a freakin juggernaught. I’m sure it gets boring working on that assembly line of destruction and pure dominance.

Can’t wait for the playoffs, when they avenge the Colts by about 40 points.

Yeah, keep thinking that, let us know how it works out for you.

  9. KC won’t even be in either Bronco game by halftime. Denver will embarrass them twice in a 3 week span. It doesn’t get better than that.

HAHA what a hypocrite. so your donkeys will avenge the loss to the colts right? meanwhile they will embarass KC twice in 3 weeks. so by your logic, if that occurs, KC will avenge those 2 losses to the donkeys when they meet in the playoffs then right genius?

  11. Dear KC fan,

The Broncos score a lot more points then you. By a lot more, I mean an average of 20. Your defense may be good, however your QB can’t pass more than a 5 yard out. If the Broncos lose to you, and they won’t, it will be a complete fluke, and you will be the best team EVER for that week. You have had a great season so far, but if any of you think that you are even close to a top 5 team in the NFL, you have been spending too much time in Colorado. Props to the 8-0 record, your offense is complete garbage. Don’ t bring the stats before Von Miller either, because they don’t mean a thing.

    Good luck

  12. Donkeys stink. Can’t wait for the Chiefs to hand the donkeys a horrific loss. The donkeys are so overrated. No way the mules make it to the SB this year. You poor excuses of donkey fans haven’t figured out you have the oldest team in the league, and when Manning is done, which will be REALLY soon, your so-called team will once again be mediocre and completely irrelevant. The only way your old defense can make a play is with PED’s, cheating drug tests, and dirty cheap shots. Soon Welker will be gone too, and since you have no running game, you won’t be able to even get a first down.

  13. Dickerson is a dirty player! I watched him deliberately throw an elbow to the knee of Sampson Sateli, Colts center on a goal line stand. I can’t believe the league missed that one. It was so obvious it was pathetic. To deliberately take a guy’s knee out with a blow while going down in the pile. He should be suspended. Go look at the tape and see for yourself. It took Sateli out of the game. Broncos have to resort to cheating for wins now!

  14. Woodyard is the one who smacked Pryor in the Oakland Denver game helmet to helmet giving him a concussion and knocking him out of the game and costing them the loss in all essence VS Washington. No flag, no fine?

  15. Both teams are incomplete, to say the least.

Denver has no defense and Kansas City has no offense.

The team to beat in the AFC is the Colts.

  16. Some people should think before opening their mouth I’m not a fan of either team but they throwing out cheap shots there and hard hitting they are the 24th ranked defense in the league I’m not sure who they are missing to injury but I don’t think it would make that big of a difference

  17. Dirty Donkeys. Btw, if nobody minds. In the future can we please refer to a horse collar as an Elway collar. Thanks!

  18. shhhhh guys. We don’t have to defend the Broncos or Donkeys or whatever they want to call our team. They already know how good we are. That’s why they hate. The Broncos play will do our talking for us. GO BRONCOS!!!!!!

  19. Haha…Pryor was in the act of RUNNING up field when Woodyard “CTRL, ALT, DELETED” him…. Stop whining traider fans…lol
