The Patriots put defensive tackle Tommy Kelly on injured reserve on Saturday, the club said.
To replace Kelly on the roster, the Patriots promoted rookie offensive lineman Josh Kline from the practice squad. Kline was on the Patriots’ Week One roster but has been on the practice squad for the bulk of the season.
Kelly (6-6, 310) appeared in five games for the Patriots this season, recording 22 tackles and 2.5 sacks. He has missed the last three games.
Kelly, 32, has notched 441 tackles and 36.5 sacks in regular-season play since entering the NFL in 2004 with Oakland. He played the previous nine seasons with the Raiders.
