The Vikings are, at 1-7, one of the worst teams in the NFL. The Cowboys are in first place in the NFC East, but they needed a touchdown in the final minute for a comeback victory over the Vikings. Should that be alarming in Dallas?

Not according to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who says that just because the Vikings’ record is 1-7, that doesn’t mean they’re a bad football team.

There are no 1-7 teams in this league,” Jones told the San Antonio Express-News after the game. “That’s not the way it is with an NFL team. These guys play better than 1-7 when we play them.”

Jones said there were times during the game when things were going against the Cowboys and he started to panic, but he credited the players with hanging tough. The win improved the Cowboys’ record to 5-4 and kept them in first place in their division, a game ahead of the Eagles.

The Vikings, meanwhile, are in last place in their division by 3.5 games. Jones may not view them as a 1-7 team, but Jones’s former employee Bill Parcells would say the Vikings are what their record says they are.
